Portfolios & Document Cases
A4 PU Leather Portfolio with Magnetic Closure – Business Doc
An A4 PU leather portfolio closed by a magnetic flap rather than a zip, so it opens and closes in one movement. Inside, the right-hand face carries a ruled pad on a clip and the left a document pocket with card slots. It is the format used when a meeting is short and the folder is opened repeatedly.
- Magnetic flap
- Full-height document pocket
- Pad on clip
- Smooth PU face

What this one is
Magnetic-flap A4 portfolio
The magnetic closure is the reason this variant exists. A zip takes both hands and a moment; a magnetic flap opens on the way to a handshake and closes itself when the folder is set down. The trade-off is that loose papers are less contained, so the interior is arranged with a full-height document pocket rather than relying on the cover alone. The front face is smooth PU, which is the best surface in the range for a large debossed or foiled logo.
- Magnetic flap — Opens and closes in one movement, unlike a perimeter zip.
- Full-height document pocket — Keeps loose A4 sheets contained without a zip.
- Pad on clip — Ruled pad on the facing side with a pen loop.
- Smooth PU face — Ideal surface for a large debossed or foiled logo.
Where it gets used
When a magnetic closure is the right call
Client-facing roles that open a folder several times in a single meeting prefer the magnetic flap because it does not slow the conversation down. Recruitment, property and financial advisory roles fit this pattern. Buyers who carry papers in a separate bag also prefer it, because the folder is used on the table rather than in transit. Where the folder is carried loose in a bag, the zippered version is the better choice.
What we can change for you
Made to your drawing, not to our catalogue
This item is not picked off a shelf. Every part of it is specified before it is made, and these are the parts buyers change most often on a portfolios & document cases programme. Send whatever you have — a drawing, a photo of a sample you like, or a rough sketch — and we quote against it.
- Outer size and orientation — A4, A5, Letter or Legal, portrait or landscape, or a size we cut to your drawing.
- Cover material and caliper — PU leather, bonded leather, linen or coated paper board — padded, semi-rigid or rigid, with the board thickness you specify.
- Closure — Zipper, magnetic flap, buckle, elastic strap or press stud. Zips can be nylon or metal, with a custom puller.
- Interior layout — Pockets, card slots, pen loop, A5 or A4 notepad, ring mechanism, document dividers, tablet sleeve, or a power-bank / wireless-charging module.
- Branding — Foil stamping, blind debossing, screen print, spot UV, edge painting or a metal badge.
- Hardware and trim — Metal corners, rivets, carry handle, contrast stitching, lining colour and edge-paint colour.
- Retail packing — Printed belly band, rigid gift box, PVC inner bag, hang tag — or carton only for bulk programmes.
Anything not on this list is a question rather than a no. We work from your artwork or a rough sketch, and cutting dies and covers are engineered in-house — so a change costs you a conversation, not a new supplier.
How your order is made
Tooling, printing and binding on our own line
Covers are cut and wrapped in our own workshop, and the zips, magnets or ring mechanisms are fitted on the same line. That is why the sampling date we give you is one we can hold.
- Tooling and dies — cutting dies and covers are engineered in-house, so a change to the shape is a conversation rather than a new supplier.
- Printing and finishing — offset and screen printing, foil stamping, blind debossing, spot UV and edge painting all run on site.
- In-line QC — checks at cutting, stitching and packing, not only at the end. You get the inspection photos before the cartons close.
- Export and documentation — cartons, pallets, labelling and shipping documents prepared to your forwarder specification. 94.8% of what we make is exported.

How to order
From spec to shipment in four steps
Most buyers have a sketch, a sample, or a brief. We turn it into a confirmed sample and then into a repeatable production run.
Product type, dimensions, quantity, logo, and deadline — even a photo is enough.
Unit price, tooling, sample cost, and lead time — usually within one working day.
We make a physical sample for your review before anything goes to bulk.
In-line QC, pre-shipment photos, then packed and shipped to your forwarder.

Working with us
Files, tooling and terms
The same terms apply to this item and to the rest of your order, so the budget and the schedule can be planned before anything is committed.
- Artwork — Vector files (AI, EPS, PDF or CDR) are what embossing, foil and screen print need. A photo, a sketch or a physical sample is enough to start — we tell you before anything is charged if a file has to be rebuilt.
- Tooling — Charged only when the item needs a new mould, die or deboss plate. It is quoted separately and stated upfront — never added later.
- Samples — A stock sample is free (you cover the courier). A customised sample is chargeable and the cost is credited against the production order once it is confirmed.
- Payment — Invoiced in US dollars from our company account. Standard terms are T/T — 30% deposit, 70% before shipment — or an L/C at sight for container orders.
- Shipping — FOB Ningbo or Shanghai, CIF, and DDP to Europe and North America. DDP includes duties and final-mile delivery.
- Mixed containers — Several categories can ship in one container, which is how buyers keep the quantity per item down while still filling a shipment.
- Confidentiality — We sign an NDA before you send drawings.
- Documents — One inspection report and one set of documents cover the whole order, whatever the mix of items.
Buyer questions
Is the magnet strong enough to stay shut in a bag?
It holds the flap closed in normal carrying use. If the folder will be carried loose in a bag, we recommend the zippered version.
Can the closure be changed to a zip?
Yes. The same interior is built with a perimeter zip on request.
Does the logo deboss work on this face?
Yes. The smooth PU is the best surface in the range for a large deboss or foil.
Can you work from a sample or a photo instead of a drawing?
Yes. A photo of a competitor’s sample, a physical sample or a rough sketch is enough to start. We return a written specification for approval before any tooling is cut.
Which logo methods can be used on the cover?
Foil stamping, blind debossing, screen print, spot UV or a metal badge. On PU we adjust the debossing depth to the sheet thickness so the impression stays sharp and does not crack along the fold.
Will a reorder match the first run?
We hold the approved specification on file — material, caliper, lining, foil colour, stitch and packing — and manufacture repeat orders against it instead of starting over.
What is the minimum order quantity?
Minimums are set per item and depend on material, tooling and finish. This item starts from 500 pcs; the exact minimum is confirmed with your quote.
How do you stop the cover from cracking at the spine?
Board caliper and hinge allowance are specified together, not separately. On padded covers we add a hinge allowance at the fold, which is where most portfolios fail first.
